February 2017
The last few months have been really exciting for us and still continues into 2017.
We had been working on securing a sale for a superb important late 15th century Venetian enamelled and gilt blue-tinted standing bowl. We felt that the bowl belonged in a Museum, so we started our research covering a number of continents, we designed a brochure as we felt the piece deserved its own special PR.
When we first started we told ourselves that it could take sometime before we found a home. But on a trip to Chicago we made contact with a person who was very impressed and this led to an introduction to a fellow colleague, who we subsequently met in London. He was from the Chicago Institute of Art, and that is where the Venetian Bowl is now homed, naturally, it was sold for a substantial six figure amount.
We have become members of The Cotswold Art and Antiques Dealers’ Association, CADA for short., and will be exhibiting at Blenheim Palace with the Association, from the 30th March to 2nd April.
We have recently sold some early glass to a top dealer in Paris, in fact we are going to Paris to meet a few dealers this week. Also, we have sold to a top glass dealer in Amsterdam.
Movement is being seen in our inquiries and turning into nice sales, so we are hoping that this will continue making a mark in the market for Mayflower Antiques.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a successful 2017.
