Description
A fine and rare Spanish silver Bernegal, a form of drinking vessel with handles and lobed edges to the top of the bowl, which would have been passed around the table; the central spike is for a bezoar nut ( these were believed to possess magical powers to prevent poisoning); marked on the side of the bowl for Zaragosa, C.1650.
Height 8 cms; 16 cms across the handles; weight is 12 ozs approx.
