A very fine Commonwealth sweetmeat dish, fully hallmarked for London 1656; the maker is S over A conjoined – see Jacksons page 118; lion passant marks under each of the handles. The piece is an exemplary, and unusually large example, of its type, being approx 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 10 1/2 inches across the handles; the weight is 7 ozs approx.
