Description
A Large and impressive Charles II Caudle Cup with cover; fully hallmarked on the side of the bowl for London 1680, the maker RD with fluer de lys below see Jacksons page 124.
The cover unmarked.
The chased acanthus style decoration on the cover and the lower part of the bowl are typical of this period. There are pinpricked owners initials G over MS underneath the base.
The piece measures Approx. 7 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial, is 6 1/2 inches in diameter across the top of the bowl and 10 1/2 inches across the scroll handles; it weighs a hefty 34ozs (Erased initials on the bowl)
