Description
A rare ‘lady’s size’ silver flat-lidded tankard; London 1699; the maker William Andrews. As well as the maker’s mark, the handle has pinpricked initials I over V followed by conjoined initials A and V or N. Almost certainly a marriage gift.
Approx 5 ½ ins tall to the top of the thumbpiece, 4 ins in diameter across the bottom of the bowl and across the lid, and 3 ½ ins in diameter across the top of the bowl; approx. 15 ozs in weight
