Description
A very rare pair of Sugar cutters, Nuremberg 17th century, made of steel with rather pretty engraving; the piece is 21.5 cms in length; sugar was a very rare and prized commodity at this time; it came in large chunks which needed to be broken up into more manageable pieces with a tool such as this. We have only come across one other example of such an item, sold at Sotheby’s many years ago for £900.
