Our Christmas 2021 Newsletter

Seasons Greetings from Mayflower Antiques

We are pleased to report that the CADA fair held from the 14th to the 17th October 2021 at Compton Verney, Warwickshire was successful for us, resulting in a number of sales. The new venue at Compton Verney was excellent, and we would expect this to become an annual fixture. So, for those clients who were unable to make it this year, do make a note to see us there next autumn.

We are currently working on a new Catalogue to be entitled ‘The Art of Drink’. This will showcase a selection of rare and interesting 16th and 17th century drinking vessels, and will include several new pieces. We hope this will be ready within the next two or three months. We continue to work with The Antique Marketing Company, and the 2Covet, LAPADA and CADA websites to promote our stock.

We send all our clients, contacts and friends our very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Update: February, 2017

February 2017

The last few months have been really exciting for us and still continues into 2017.

We had been working on securing a sale for a superb important late 15th century Venetian enamelled and gilt blue-tinted standing bowl. We felt that the bowl belonged in a Museum, so we started our research covering a number of continents, we designed a brochure as we felt the piece deserved its own special PR.

When we first started we told ourselves that it could take sometime before we found a home. But on a trip to Chicago we made contact with a person who was very impressed and this led to an introduction to a fellow colleague, who we subsequently met in London. He was from the Chicago Institute of Art, and that is where the Venetian Bowl is now homed, naturally, it was sold for a substantial six figure amount.

We have become members of The Cotswold Art and Antiques Dealers’ Association, CADA for short., and will be exhibiting at Blenheim Palace with the Association, from the 30th March to 2nd April.

We have recently sold some early glass to a top dealer in Paris, in fact we are going to Paris to meet a few dealers this week. Also, we have sold to a top glass dealer in Amsterdam.

Movement is being seen in our inquiries and turning into nice sales, so we are hoping that this will continue making a mark in the market for Mayflower Antiques.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a successful 2017.

Update: Summer, 2016

Summer

We have carried out an excellent ‘photo shoot’ for our new pieces and at the same time updating some of our old ‘photo shoots’ on current pieces. The standard is higher, our aim is to have all our pieces taken by ‘Fellows Photographic Services’. The new images will be on our website very shortly.

We have several new projects underway and hopefully over the next few weeks we will be able to share these with you.

We plan to visit Paris later on in the year and are still following up on the sale of our very unique piece of early Venetian glass, at present we are concentrating in the USA.

Social Me still continue to give us a Social Media presence, it is very pleasing to know we have a very strong following through various outlets. At the same time networking continues.

We have deferred exhibiting at fairs until early 2017, but we shall certainly keep you informed when we do.

Update: March, 2016

Spring

We had a first class visit to Masstricht, met dealers that we knew and the same time met some new dealers that we did not know.

We took some great stand shots for for inspiration of how we would like to design our stands for upcoming fairs. We love that at Tefafa Exhibitors change their stand ideas each year giving a fresh and exciting appearance.

We purchased two early pieces that will soon be on our website, both are very rare, naturally we are excited with the expansion of out stock.

Four of our pieces were shown on ITV Masterpiece in February and March which was great Fun. These can be seen on our Social Media.

Networking continues running alongside the work of Social Me which is so vital for us.

We look Forward to a busy and exciting summer.

Update: January, 2016

2016 is already building up to be a busy year.

In February we are attending the LAPADA conference at the House of Commons. This year the theme is how we as Antique dealers can be more prominent and utilise our own websites and the Social Media to obtain sales. This method is increasing daily and will be such a force for us, LAPADA have gained some first class ‘speakers’ for the conference.

Once again we shall be visiting Maastricht in March to meet fellow dealers and to gain more ideas for when we exhibit later on in the year.

We shall also be visiting Paris and following up on sales for our very unique piece of early Venetian glass, which we are hoping to home in one of the large museums either in Europe or the USA.

Later on in the year we will be exhibiting in London.

Social Me continue to promote Mayflower Antiques and are giving us new ideas all the time to break into a new exciting frontier.
